Making history: our first BIE doctoral students!

As Co-Chairs of the Buddhist Collective, we would like to invite you to join us in rejoicing in Venerables Xian'ai and Xian'an, both MDiv BIE graduates and soon to be STM graduates, who have been accepted into Union's prestigious Ph.D. program, starting in Fall of 2023. This is a testament to their brilliance! We wish them much success and joy on this journey, and we are so very excited to see what they bring into the world as a result.
This is also a historic event for the seminary, and for our growing Buddhist community within it. It is, as far as we know, the first time Buddhists have been accepted as such into the program, both with important research proposals grounded in the Dharma and concern for the pressing climate crisis. Our sangha and future sangha will be blessed to have their leadership and their exemplification of the Buddhadharma on campus for years to come... not to forget their signature sense of humor!
Please join us in rejoicing in the merit and the immense potential of Xian'ai and Xian'an as doctoral candidates. May all blessings be yours, dear Venerables, and may you be supported by all the Ancestors!
